De Fietsgids (The Cycling Guide)
You can rent city bikes from De Fietsgids, ranging from 6 to 30 bikes. They provide helmets free of charge. You can rent bikes for one or several days. Rentals are available 7 days a week, all year round, subject to availability. Reserve your bikes online via the calendar on the De Fietsgids website.

Blue-bike has bikes all over Belgium, at more than 65 locations, including train, tram and bus stations and park-and-rides.
The distinctive blue bikes can be found at Mechelen station, Nekkerspoel station and the Veemarkt.
The system is simple: you borrow a bike when you need it, 7/7 and 24/24. Pay per ride via the app, or via subscription if you want to make regular use of Blue-bike.

Mobit
You can easily use the green shared bikes with the orange lock with the Mobit app. Download the app, pay the deposit and top up your online wallet. To use the app you need 4G connection, Bluetooth and location-sharing.
You can pay per ride or buy a day pass for the use of a bike for an entire day. In addition to Mechelen, Mobit is also active in other Flemish cities such as Aalst, Hasselt and Antwerp. If you no longer need the app, you’ll be refunded the entire amount.

With Hoppy electric shared scooters, you can get from A to B, in the centre and beyond. Adapted to the cobblestones of our historic town centre, they have extra suspension and larger wheels for maximum shock absorption. Like Mobit bikes, Hoppy’s electric shared scooters work with an app. You can pay by charging your wallet with a credit or debit card.

The employees at the bicycle repair point in Mechelen are available every weekday between 10 am and 6 pm to help stranded cyclists in need. They carry out just enough minor repairs so you can get home safely, e.g. fixing a flat tyre, repairing a light, ... For major repairs, the personnel will refer you to a traditional bike repairer.

Fietsatelier
You can also go to Fietsatelier, a supported employment workplace, to have your bike repaired. They deliver brilliant work, with a social added value. They also rent out standard and electric bikes, which you can use to explore Mechelen. Finally, we also rent out a bike for wheelchair users via Fietsatelier.

Cycling hubs
Mechelen is a wonderful place to discover by bike. But an empty battery or a flat tyre can soon spoil your fun. That’s why you’ll find several bike hubs all over the city: handy stops so you can quickly get back on the road.
You can recognise a bike hub from its typical info column. There you can immediately see where you are and the fastest route back to the city centre. The QR code gives you access to all cycling information about Mechelen. In addition, there is always a repair column and bicycle pump available. In some locations you will also find additional facilities, such as a charging locker for electric bikes or a vending machine with bike parts.
The bicycle hub on the Grote Markt has it all: there’s a large bike shed, repair column, charging lockers and a vending machine with handy bike accessories.

Charging points
Need to charge your electric bike in the city centre? This can be done free of charge in the underground bike park in St Martin’s Garden and in the courtyard of the town hall on the Grote Markt.
There is also a Blue Corner charging point on Veemarkt. Next to the vending machine is a charging station where four users can charge their bikes at the same time. To use the charging point, you need a Blue Corner charging card.
At the bike hubs in Battel, Keerdok and Grote Markt you will also find lockers in which to charge the battery for your electric bike.
