Vrijbroekpark is situated on the periphery of the city and is a green area that covers 50 hectares. It is the ideal place for walking, exercising or dreaming away in peace on a terrace. A visit to the beautiful rose garden is also an absolute must! In 2003, the garden was even awarded the ‘Award of Garden Excellence’.
Circuit Mechelen – Hotel ruins of Vrijbroekpark
From the historic city centre of Mechelen, walk towards Vrijbroekpark. Hidden in that green oasis, you will discover the ghost hotel, a mysterious hotel ruins with a unique urban atmosphere, impressive street art and picturesque fauna and flora. Follow the impressive hiking trail that leads you through the trees to the first floor of the ruins.

For a guided walk, you can choose from various themes: Vrijbroekpark and its nature, the Wilgernis, trees, along the water, flowers, the rose collection, the summer gardens with dahlia collection, the ecotope garden, forest bathing (from the Japanese shinrin-yoku), the art walk and the tours of the fascinating hotel ruins.
